PRI leader Alejandro Moreno calls for imprisonment of López Obrador

Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, leader of the PRI, has called for the imprisonment of former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, accusing him of establishing pacts with organized crime during his administration. Moreno claimed that while the current government targets political opponents, it ignores allegations involving Morena officials and their alleged ties to criminal groups, noting that such information is documented internationally.

Moreno also commented on the suspension of visas for certain officials, suggesting that if the trend continues, future USMCA meetings might have to be held via Zoom because officials will lack valid travel documents. Additionally, the PRI leader expressed support for the PAN's openness to local alliances, stating that prioritizing the country over partisan interests is a positive step for building competitive coalitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
