PRI leads in Coahuila state legislative vote as PREP reporting begins

On June 7 the Institute of Electoral Processes of Coahuila (IEC) activated the Preliminary Electoral Results Program (PREP) to transmit vote counts in real time. The operation covered 4,319 polling‑station actas representing 2,499,372 registered voters, using two capture centers, 17 data‑transmission hubs and a team of more than 1,100 technical staff and observers, all monitored by security auditors.

Preliminary results released around 21:00 showed the PRI‑UCD coalition ahead with roughly 55 % of the vote, winning all 16 local districts. Voter turnout was reported at 49.53 %, with a total of 679,291 votes counted. The PRI claimed victories for each district, while Morena’s leader Ariadna Montiel accused the PRI of buying votes, presenting videos that she said proved purchases of at least 500 pesos per ballot. PRI president Alejandro Moreno declared the win as a clear rejection of “narco‑politics”. Other parties recorded significantly lower totals, including PAN (14,153) and Morena‑PT combined (175,932).
