PRI official addresses political confrontation in Chihuahua
Janeth Montes López, Secretary General of the PRI State Steering Committee in Chihuahua, addressed the increasing political confrontation against the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). She framed this tension within the context of the upcoming 2027 electoral process and the party's efforts to build a broad opposition front.
Montes López stated that the PRI leadership, including national president Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas and state leader Alex Domínguez, is exploring the formation of an opposition coalition. She argued that the ruling Morena party is attempting to link the PRI to past administrations and the PAN to shift electoral debates toward the past rather than current results.
Addressing recent criticisms from President Claudia Sheinbaum regarding meetings between political figures, Montes López asserted that while some seek to anchor discussion in the past, the PRI is focused on reorganization and territorial presence to build a future-oriented proposal for Chihuahua and Mexico.
