Coahuila Electoral Institute Confirms PRI Win and Assigns Proportional Seats

The Instituto Electoral de Coahuila (IEC) completed the vote count for the June 7, 2026 state election. The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) received 651,086 votes (53.66% of the valid votes) and won all 16 single‑member districts. In the proportional‑representation allocation, the PRI obtained one of the nine plurinominal seats, bringing its total to 17 legislators.

Morena earned 290,056 votes (23.91%) and was assigned five plurinominal seats, becoming the second‑largest bloc in the Congress. The Party of Labor (PT), Unidad Democrática de Coahuila (UDC) and the Nuevas Ideas party each received one proportional seat. Parties that fell below the 3 % threshold – PAN, Movimiento Ciudadano, the Green Ecologist Party and México Avante – lost local prerogatives and will not hold seats.

The IEC also refuted rumours that former governor Humberto Moreira would obtain a seat via a Nuevas Ideas list, stating the information is false. Additionally, the IEC validated the internal regulations of the local PRD party in Mexico City, deeming them constitutionally compliant while noting minor adjustments may be required.
