PRI Wins Over 55% Vote, Secures Majority in Coahuila Congress

The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and its local ally Unidad Democrática de Coahuila (UDC) captured all 16 single‑member districts in Coahuila’s state legislative election, obtaining 684,515 votes (55.01% of the total), more than twice the 326,012 votes earned by the Morena‑Labor coalition.

The outcome gives the PRI‑UDC bloc a near‑absolute majority in the 31‑seat Congress, with 15 seats for PRI and two for UDC. Morena is projected to receive five plurinominal seats, while the new party Nuevas Ideas could obtain two; PAN, MC and Verde failed to win any representation.

National PRI leader Alejandro Moreno pledged to defend each vote and ballot, warning of possible complaints to international bodies. Sonora PRI president Lupita Soto said the party will try to repeat the “Coahuila sweep” in her state’s 2027 elections.
