PRI Yucatán urges security forum to safeguard peace
The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in Yucatán announced a Security and Peace Forum to address growing concerns about public safety. Deputy Gaspar Quintal Parra, the party’s state president, highlighted that while Yucatán reports low homicide numbers, crime estimates have risen sharply, prompting the need for a comprehensive response.
The forum, titled “Diagnóstico y Futuro para Yucatán,” will be held on 14 August 2026 at the Casa del Pueblo. It will feature former governors Rubén Moreira, Rolando Zapata and Miguel Alonso, as well as former state attorney Ariel Aldecua Kuk, who will discuss strengthening legal protections, combating new crime modalities, and reinforcing institutional security. Results from the event are slated for presentation at a national security and peace seminar on 7 September.
