Pride celebrations held in Dordrecht and Amsterdam

Pride celebrations took place in the Netherlands, highlighting both community visibility and ongoing social challenges. In Dordrecht, the Pride Walk featured various local government officials from the Drechtsteden region, including mayors and aldermen. However, the event also underscored regional sensitivities; some municipalities were unrepresented, and organizers chose not to use billboards in Alblasserdam following instances of vandalism and defacement in previous years.

In Amsterdam, the Religious Pride program provided a platform for LGBTQ+ individuals of various faiths to connect. The Werkverband van Katholieke Homo-Pastores (WKHP), a network of LGBTQ+ Catholic pastors and theologians, participated in the festivities. Representing the group, Ramon Roks highlighted the significance of the annual Pride Church Service, noting that it offers a space for those who have previously felt excluded from their own religious institutions to find community and shared worship.
