Pride Month Highlights LGBTQ+ Books Across Genres

Librarians at Brownell Library and Essex Free Library in the UK have compiled a Pride Month reading list that includes titles such as *Boyfriend Material* by Alexis Hall, *Compound Fracture* by Andrew Joseph White, and the podcast *Handsome* featuring Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster and Mae Martin. They stress that books can serve as “mirrors” and “windows” that foster empathy and belonging for readers of all backgrounds.

A separate roundup from United By Pop recommends a wide range of LGBTQ+ works released this year, from the gothic mystery *A Slow and Secret Poison* and the queer historical novel *Meet the Newmans*, to fantasy titles like *The Red Winter* and contemporary literary fiction such as *Nova Scotia House*.
