Prienai Hospital to expand long-term care services by 2029
Prienai Hospital has entered into a financing agreement to expand its long-term care services and infrastructure. The project, valued at 2.815 million EUR, is heavily supported by European Union funding, which accounts for over 2.39 million EUR of the total cost.
Key developments scheduled through August 2029 include the construction of a new hospital wing and the reconstruction of existing buildings dedicated to care and palliative treatment. The initiative aims to modernize infrastructure and improve services for patients suffering from dementia and those requiring palliative care, including the establishment of a day station.
Beyond physical construction, the project focuses on mobile healthcare. A mobile team from the Prienai District Primary Health Care Center will be equipped with specialized tools and an electric vehicle to provide outpatient care directly in patients' homes. The project also intends to increase the number of nurses and nursing assistants to meet the growing demand for long-term care in the region.
