Priest Stanisław Zbojnowicz recorded 25,503 Masses before fatal attack
Following the fatal stabbing of Father Stanisław Zbojnowicz in Jarosław, personal records have revealed that the priest meticulously documented every Mass he performed since his ordination in 1986. The Jarosław Abbey reported finding a notebook containing entries for 25,503 Masses.
Father Zbojnowicz, 67, served for 40 years in various capacities, including chaplain at the Provincial Hospital in Krosno and confessor at the Jarosław Abbey. His funeral was held in his hometown of Grzęska, presided over by Bishop Stanisław Jamrozek. During the service, Karol Nawrocki sent a letter stating that the priest’s life should be measured by the good he left behind rather than the tragedy of his death.
The attack occurred on September 24, when 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen Ihor M. allegedly stabbed five people, including three clergy members. The suspect is currently in custody; psychiatric experts have identified symptoms of acute psychotic disorder, which has impacted his ability to participate in legal proceedings.
