Priests Against Genocide urge Catholic leaders to speak out on Gaza

Members of the “Priests Against Genocide” network have called for more decisive and prophetic language from church leadership regarding the situation in Gaza. During a press conference, representatives stated that the crisis in Gaza is a matter of “violated human rights” rather than a purely religious or charitable issue.

The group noted that while there is no explicit support from CEI President Matteo Zuppi, dialogue with him has increased over the past year. They urged bishops and pastoral leaders to move beyond “prudent silence,” arguing that such caution fails to protect anyone and only serves those committing atrocities.

Representatives observed a shift in perception within Italian Christian communities regarding the actions of Israel against Palestinians, though they noted that the topic remains highly polarized in countries like France.
