Prievidza prepares significant reduction in municipal nursery fees

The city of Prievidza is preparing a project titled ‘Development and stabilization of care for children up to 3 years old in the city of Prievidza’ with a total budget of 241,596.60 euros. The initiative aims to significantly reduce monthly fees for municipal nurseries to support young families.

Under the proposal, full-day attendance fees for professional and service activities (excluding meals) would drop from 375 euros to 175 euros per month, potentially saving families up to 2,400 euros annually. Half-day fees are expected to decrease from 200 euros to 100 euros. Mayor Katarína Macháčková stated that the goal is to ensure quality care is an accessible public service rather than a luxury, helping parents return to the workforce.

The project, which targets a capacity of 20 children at the municipal nursery on A. Mišúta Street, also focuses on stabilizing professional staff. Over 210,000 euros are allocated for the salaries of four qualified caregivers, with additional funds designated for operational and overhead costs.
