Prijatelji dece Srbije demands withdrawal of education law amendments

The organization Prijatelji dece Srbije (Friends of Children of Serbia) has called on parents, teachers, students, and citizens to demand the full withdrawal of the draft amendments to the Law on the Foundations of the Education System.

In a statement addressed to the Ministry of Education, the organization argued that the draft is insufficiently thought out and that the public debate lacks transparency and sufficient time for professional involvement, noting that the debate was organized during annual holidays.

The organization claims these are not merely cosmetic changes but fundamental shifts that affect the status of students, parents, and education employees. Specifically, they cite concerns regarding the narrowing of participation mechanisms in school life, controversial solutions for children's health data and removal from classes, expanded disciplinary mechanisms for parents, and changes to professional guarantees for teachers.
