Prijedor doctors attend obstetric anesthesia school in Novi Sad

Medical professionals from the Dr. Mladen Stojanović Hospital in Prijedor participated in the 16th School of Obstetric Anesthesia held at the University Clinical Center of Vojvodina in Novi Sad. The event featured experts from the United States, Serbia, North Macedonia, Croatia, Albania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dr. Monika Gašević Kasagić, head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Reanimation, and Intensive Care, and gynecologist Dr. Tomislav Jekić attended the program to exchange experiences regarding modern methods of obstetric anesthesia and analgesia. This participation builds on an initiative started in 2021 to introduce epidural analgesia at the Prijedor hospital, making painless childbirth a regular part of clinical practice.

Future objectives for the Prijedor medical team include implementing ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) protocols in gynecological and obstetric surgery, including cesarean sections. This multidisciplinary approach aims to improve patient safety and quality of care through better pain control and earlier mobilization.
