Prilep hosts fifth Rural Woman fair to promote economic empowerment

The fifth annual “Rural Woman – Roots and Table” fair was held in the center of Prilep, organized by Slow Food Prilep. The event showcased producers from the Pelagonia region, featuring dairy products, honey, traditional homemade foods, and handicrafts.

Organizers and participants emphasized the need to increase the economic visibility and competitiveness of rural women. While women play a central role in agricultural production and food processing, their labor is often undervalued or categorized simply as “helping at home.” The fair aims to elevate these producers to ensure they can achieve economic independence and participate more actively in market decisions.

In addition to the exhibition, the event included a panel discussion on agroecology, green innovation, and women's entrepreneurship. Training sessions were also provided to help women utilize new technologies and social media to enhance their production and business reach.
