Prilep marble to be transported via new cargo rail service
Vice Prime Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski has announced that preparations for cargo rail transport from Prilep through Bitola to international destinations are in the final stages. This new rail service is intended to transport marble products, which officials state will help protect passenger traffic by moving heavy goods to rail.
In addition to the cargo initiative, Nikoloski noted that work is progressing on the Prilep–Bitola highway. He confirmed that the construction consortium of Bechtel and ENKA is working to ensure that railway crossings are properly bridged so that rail traffic can continue without interruption during highway construction. The government also expects to restore intercity passenger rail service between Prilep and Bitola in the near future.
