Prilep police operation dismantles long-running organized crime group

North Macedonian Interior Minister Panče Toshkovski announced the dismantling of a major organized criminal group following a large-scale police operation in Prilep. The operation, which involved approximately 30 raids, was the result of a year-long investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in coordination with the Public Prosecutor and foreign partner services.

The criminal group is alleged to have operated for over 15 years, remaining largely untouchable by law enforcement. Members are suspected of committing serious property crimes and thefts across North Macedonia and several European Union member states, including Greece (specifically in the Halkidiki and Kalithea regions) and Spain. One individual who had been under house arrest in Spain reportedly fled but has since been apprehended by Macedonian police.

Approximately 21 individuals are expected to be included in the initial criminal indictment. Furthermore, the investigation is looking into allegations that certain police officers may have assisted the group by leaking information. Authorities are proceeding with the case as an urgent matter under the orders of the Public Prosecutor.
