Prilep–Bitola motorway construction to see first segment open within a year
The construction of the Prilep–Bitola motorway is progressing with the first 12 kilometers of the 40-kilometer project expected to be operational within a year, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski.
Nikoloski stated that the project utilizes new construction standards in North Macedonia, specifically replacing traditional soil bases with a crushed stone foundation to increase driving stability. This method is also planned for the Kičevo–Bukojčani and Skopje–Blace routes.
A 25-kilometer section between Fariš and Prilep remains unresolved, with officials currently determining whether it will be constructed as a motorway or an expressway. The Prilep–Bitola route is part of a broader regional infrastructure connection, following the recent completion of the Prilep–Gradsko expressway phases.
