Primark opens 500th global store in Pompei, Italy
Primark has reached a major milestone with the opening of its 500th store globally at the La Cartiera shopping center in Pompei, Italy. This new location marks the company's 22nd store in Italy and has created over 150 local jobs. Luca Ciuffreda, Director of Primark Italy, noted that the opening serves as a recognition of the Italian market and the local territory.
The retailer is aggressively expanding its footprint across Europe. In Romania, Primark has opened its seventh store in Iași with a 10 million euro investment, following recent openings in Sibiu and Craiova. In Portugal, the company is executing a 45 million euro investment plan, recently opening a new location in Castelo Branco, with further expansions planned for Setúbal, Vila Nova de Gaia, and Porto.
Financially, Primark reported a 4% revenue increase to 2.92 billion pounds in the quarter ending June 20, 2026. The company continues to follow a “store-led” model, prioritizing physical retail over e-commerce delivery to maintain competitive pricing. Looking ahead, Primark is expected to be spun off from its parent company, Associated British Foods, by the end of 2027.
