Primary‑school focus and self‑control predict Vietnam university success

A teacher‑led study involving a Chinese university found that four learning qualities—especially sustained attention and diligent work habits—observed in primary school correlate strongly with later academic achievement. The research compared groups of high‑performing, average and low‑performing students and identified a close link between early learning traits and later test scores.

A longitudinal study by New York University that tracked 747 individuals from birth to age 26 reported that children with better self‑control at third grade earned higher math and reading scores and were 20% more likely to graduate from university. The findings suggest that behaviours cultivated in early schooling are key indicators of a child’s chance of gaining admission to top universities in Vietnam.
