Primate of Poland declares Eucharist essential to Church life

Archbishop Wojciech Polak, the Primate of Poland, stated that the Eucharist is essential for Christian life and serves as the source of life for the Church and every individual parish. During a Mass held on August 9 in Czewujewo to mark the 50th anniversary of the parish and the feast of St. Lawrence, the Metropolitan of Gniezno emphasized the importance of the ongoing Eucharistic Congress in the Archdiocese of Gniezno.

In his homily, Archbishop Polak discussed the Christian logic of self-giving, referencing the biblical parable of the grain of wheat. He noted that in a world focused on possession, true love is found in sacrificing one's own comfort and time to help others. He concluded that social engagement and care for others must be inseparable from sacramental life, as the Eucharist provides the spiritual nourishment necessary to sustain the conscience.
