Primavera do Leste implements new health residency program

The municipality of Primavera do Leste, through its Municipal Health Secretariat, has announced the implementation of a Multiprofessional Residency Program in Primary Care. The initiative aims to qualify primary care services, strengthen health teams, and train professionals to meet local population needs.

The 24-month program will offer seven annual vacancies, maintaining up to 14 active residents at any given time. The cohort will include professionals from nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, and physiotherapy. The curriculum consists of 60 weekly hours, with 80 percent dedicated to practical and theoretical-practical activities and 20 percent focused on theoretical training, including bioethics and epidemiology.

In the first year, residents will focus on Family Health and Health Surveillance within the primary care network, which includes 17 Basic Health Units, a Street Clinic, and a Mobile Unit. The second year expands training to secondary care through specialized internships in facilities such as Emergency Care Units (UPA), Specialty Centers, and Rehabilitation Centers.
