Primavera do Leste targets national status for integrative health project

The municipality of Primavera do Leste is working to transform its 'Farmácia Viva' (Living Pharmacy) into a national reference for integrative health practices. Local officials, including Mayor Sérgio Machnic and Health Secretary Laura Leandra, met with Fiocruz researcher and national project coordinator Islândia Carvalho to present the initiative.

Carvalho noted that Primavera do Leste has been selected as a study field, potentially serving as a model for the formalization and implementation of similar projects in other Brazilian municipalities and states. The project focuses on integral care by integrating health practices with the responsible use of medicinal plants and phytotherapeutics.

To ensure the project's success and continuity, experts emphasized the need for political support, specialized technical assistance, and financial resources.
