Prime Intellect launches Prime Agent, open‑source self‑improving coding harness

Prime Intellect, a distributed AI infrastructure startup that recently reached a $1 billion valuation, released Prime Agent on August 5 2026. Prime Agent is an open‑source, self‑improving coding and research agent that combines a Recursive Language Model (RLM) runtime with a Continual Harness, allowing it to operate inside a persistent Python REPL, call tools programmatically, spawn sub‑agents, and modify its own behavior without human supervision.

In benchmark testing the system achieved a 95.5 % score on the ARC‑AGI‑3 benchmark, surpassing the baseline set by human experts. The launch follows a $130 million Series A round in July 2026, bringing total funding above $150 million from investors including Radical Ventures, NVIDIA Ventures and Intel Capital. The code is available on GitHub, and Prime Intellect positions the tool as a way to democratize advanced AI coding capabilities for startups and enterprise teams.
