Anutin Charnvirakul inspects Royal Thai Navy combat readiness
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited Sattahip in Chonburi province on August 27, 2026, to inspect the combat readiness of the Royal Thai Navy. The visit aligns with the Navy's designation of 2026 as the “Year of Combat Readiness.”
During the inspection, the Prime Minister observed operations aboard the HTMS Chakri Naruebet, which is being developed as a “UXV Carrier.” This concept utilizes the vessel as a command and control platform for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and unmanned surface vehicles (USV) to enhance patrol, surveillance, and targeting capabilities while reducing risks to personnel.
The exercise also featured the HTMS Bhumibol Adulyadej, a high-performance frigate, demonstrating its capabilities in air defense, anti-surface warfare, and anti-submarine warfare. The training emphasized the integration of naval forces, air assets, the Marine Corps, and naval special warfare units to ensure effective joint operations.
