Prime Minister Han discusses regulatory reform with economic leaders

Prime Minister Han Seong-sook met with leaders from major economic organizations at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss regulatory rationalization aimed at fostering industrial growth and investment.

Economic groups proposed various reforms to support future industries like AI and robotics. The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry suggested creating regulatory 'testbeds' to collect data on the effects of deregulation. The Federation of Korean Industries advocated for a transition to a 'negative regulation' system—where everything is permitted except for specific prohibitions—to match the innovation environments of global tech hubs. The Korea Enterprises Federation requested legal clarity to ensure that high-level management decisions, such as factory establishment and performance-based bonuses, are not subject to labor disputes.

Prime Minister Han expressed agreement with these proposals, stating that the government intends to resolve issues that can be addressed through inter-departmental consultation or regulation adjustments immediately. She emphasized that regulatory reform must lead to actual industrial expansion and promised to use digital tools, including AI, to analyze and inspect irrational regulations.
