Prime Minister Narendra Modi marks Guru Purnima and touts FTAs opening $60 trillion markets

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the social‑media platform X to share a Sanskrit verse and wish the nation a happy Guru Purnima, emphasizing the role of teachers in imparting knowledge and values.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said that the free‑trade agreements negotiated under Modi’s leadership give India access to global markets valued at about $60 trillion. He highlighted export growth of 73 % in five years, reduced tariffs on textiles, jewellery, engineering goods and pharmaceuticals, and the attraction of foreign investment to boost manufacturing and job creation.
