Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 57th convocation of IIT Delhi on August 8, 2026, where over 3,000 students, including 587 PhD scholars, received degrees. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister presented several prestigious awards, such as the President's Gold Medal and the Director's Gold Medal, to meritorious students. He also noted the need for increased female representation among academic medalists.

As part of the event, PM Modi inaugurated 'Param Pragya,' an AI-powered high-performance supercomputing facility located at IIT Delhi's Sonipat campus. Developed under the National Supercomputing Mission by C-DAC, the facility features a peak computing capacity of 250 AI petaflops.

Addressing the graduates, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of continuous learning and curiosity in a rapidly changing technological landscape. He urged the youth to contribute to India's journey toward becoming a developed nation, or 'Viksit Bharat,' through innovation in sectors like semiconductors, drones, and artificial intelligence.
