Prime Minister Takaichi receives AI training from Team Mirai leader

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi met with Anno, leader of Team Mirai, at the Prime Minister's Official Residence for an AI-focused demonstration. During the session, Anno acted as an ‘AI tutor,’ guiding the Prime Minister on using generative AI to create software applications.

As part of the demonstration, Takaichi used AI to generate a tool designed to simulate the effects of government inflation countermeasures on individual households. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the speed and utility of the AI-generated results, noting that such data would have been highly useful in previous months.

However, some analysts have criticized the use of AI for such simple calculations, arguing that true policy-making AI should instead model complex macroeconomic impacts. These critics suggest that while subsidies may lower immediate consumer prices, they can also create inflationary pressure by maintaining household disposable income and increasing demand.
