Prime Minister Tarek Rahman's India visit under discussion

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir has stated that discussions are ongoing regarding a potential visit to India by Prime Minister Tarek Rahman, though specific dates have not yet been finalized. While the Prime Minister has been invited to attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13 in his capacity as BIMSTEC Chairman, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has not provided updated information on his participation.

Minister Kabir emphasized that despite existing challenges, the path for dialogue with India remains open, noting the importance of maintaining good relations with the neighboring country. He clarified that no visit to India is expected prior to the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session.

Additionally, the Minister mentioned the possibility of a meeting between Prime Minister Tarek Rahman and US President Donald Trump during the UN session. He also addressed domestic issues, stating that the government is prioritizing the energy sector and working to dismantle syndicates that previously hindered labor exports to Malaysia.
