Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrives in Tokyo for four-day visit
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport on Monday morning for a four-day official visit to Japan. Accompanied by his wife, Zubaida Rahman, and a 15-member high-level delegation, the Prime Minister aims to strengthen bilateral relations, attract Japanese investment, and expand trade and development cooperation.
A key highlight of the visit is a high-level bilateral meeting scheduled for October 27 with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. The discussions are expected to cover the implementation of the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) signed in February 2024, as well as the updated ‘Big-B’ (Bay of Bengal Industrial Growth Belt) initiative.
The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes delivering a keynote address at the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Forum and meeting with leaders from development institutions such as JICA, JETRO, and JBIC. Additionally, the delegation plans to visit Toyota factories and LNG terminals to explore opportunities in the manufacturing and energy sectors.
