Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund reaches Rs 7.376 billion

The Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund has reached Rs 7.376 billion following contributions intended for victims of the Bhotekoshi flood. According to Hemraj Aryal, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, the fund held Rs 2.17 billion prior to the flood, meaning Rs 5.206 billion in new contributions has been collected over the last eight days.

International contributions have accounted for approximately US$7.158 million, equivalent to roughly Rs 1.88 billion. Localized efforts in the Parbat district have also contributed to the relief efforts, with over Rs 2.1 million raised by various local municipalities, organizations, and individuals to support rescue and rehabilitation.

The Disaster Relief Fund Operation Committee recently decided to immediately release Rs 1 billion to affected areas. This amount will be transferred to a fund managed under the leadership of the Home Ministry secretary to facilitate urgent relief operations.
