Prime Video announces Fallout Shelter: The Experiment reality series
Prime Video has announced the premiere of “Fallout Shelter: The Experiment,” an unscripted reality competition series inspired by the Fallout video game franchise and television series. The show is scheduled to debut on January 13, 2027, with a staggered release: the first four episodes will premiere on launch day, followed by three episodes weekly through January 27, 2027.
Set within the fictional Vault-Tec bomb shelters, the competition features everyday participants facing high-octane drills, psychological dilemmas, and moral challenges. The series utilizes the franchise’s “S.P.E.C.I.A.L.” attribute system—Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck—to test contestants' survival skills. A single winner will receive a $1 million grand prize.
The production is a collaboration between Studio Lambert, Kilter Films, and Bethesda Game Studios. Executive producers include Todd Howard of Bethesda, as well as Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of the Fallout live-action series. The program will be available in more than 240 countries and territories.
