Prime Video announces new ‘Carrie’ series directed by Mike Flanagan
A new eight-episode television adaptation of Stephen King’s 1974 novel ‘Carrie’ is set to arrive on Prime Video. Directed by Mike Flanagan, the series aims to provide a modern interpretation of the story, placing the narrative in a contemporary setting with a specific focus on the impact of social media, filming, and public humiliation.
Samer H. Howell stars as the protagonist, Carrie White, a withdrawn teenager facing peer violence and a difficult family life before discovering her telekinetic abilities. The production features a cast including Samantha Sloan, Sienna Agudong, Amber Midtander, Joel Ordlet, Alison Thornton, Matthew Lillard, and Josie Tota. Stephen King has reportedly described Flanagan’s version as ‘brilliant.’
The series marks the latest screen interpretation of King’s enduring work, which has previously seen successful adaptations including Brian De Palma’s 1976 film and various other television movies and musical versions.
