Prime Video Announces New Stephen King 'Carrie' Series for 2026
Prime Video will launch a new horror series based on Stephen King’s 1974 novel Carrie. Directed by Mike Flanagan – known for Doctor Sleep and The Haunting of Hill House – the adaptation stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie White, with Matthew Lillard, Amber Midthunder, Heather Graham, Katee Sackhoff and others in supporting roles. Although an official premiere date has not been set, the series is slated to arrive before the end of the 2026 calendar year, with October suggested by several cast members. The production marks the first original Stephen King series on Prime Video since the platform’s earlier adaptation of Haven, and it will be released exactly fifty years after the classic 1976 film version of Carrie.
The announcement follows recent successful King adaptations such as IT: Welcome to Derry and highlights the continued interest in reviving the author’s iconic horror works for streaming audiences.
