Prime Video expands cast for NASA drama ‘The Challenger’

Prime Video has expanded the recurring cast of its upcoming 1980s-set NASA drama, ‘The Challenger’. The limited series, which marks Kristen Stewart’s television starring debut, will focus on the events surrounding the 1986 space shuttle disaster, the subsequent investigation, and the historic journey of Sally Ride, the first American woman in space.

New cast additions include William Fichtner as Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman and Kevin Carroll as Professor Arthur Walker. Eric Lange will portray General Donald Kutyna, a member of the Presidential Commission investigating the accident. Other new additions are Adelaide Clemens as astronaut Rhea Seddon, Louisa Jacobson as Tam O’Shaughnessy, and Hunter Burke as astronaut Steve Hawley.

Created by Maggie Cohn, the series is inspired by Meredith E. Bagby’s 2023 book ‘The New Guys’. The production features direction by James Hawes and includes previously announced cast members such as Will Arnett, Danny Huston, and Sofia Black-D’Elia. An official release date from Amazon Prime Video has not yet been announced.
