Prime Video expands Stephen King adaptations with new projects
Prime Video is expanding its library of Stephen King adaptations with two distinct projects. The streaming service has announced a six-episode miniseries based on the short story ‘Crouch End’. Set in London, the narrative follows a world-famous actress, Doris Freeman, who claims supernatural phenomena are linked to her husband's disappearance. The story, which pays homage to H.P. Lovecraft, centers on Detective Ted Vetter as he investigates whether the claims are true or a calculated deception.
Additionally, the film adaptation of ‘The Long Walk’, directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Cooper Hoffman, is arriving on the platform. Based on King’s 1979 dystopian novel, the story depicts fifty adolescents forced to walk continuously under the supervision of armed soldiers in a totalitarian America. Participants must maintain a minimum speed of four miles per hour to avoid being eliminated after three warnings. This project follows decades of failed attempts to adapt the visceral novel.
