Prime Video releases trailer for Brazil's big‑budget dystopian thriller 'Corrida dos Bichos

Prime Video unveiled the trailer for the Brazilian action thriller "Corrida dos Bichos," scheduled to debut on the streaming platform on 7 August. The film, directed by Fernando Meirelles and co‑director Ernesto Solis, is billed as the most expensive Brazilian production ever, with an estimated budget of around R$ 20 million.

Set in a near‑future Rio de Janeiro devastated by a catastrophic flood, the story follows a brutal spectacle where wealthy "players" pit impoverished individuals, called "Bichos," in deadly races for a millionaire prize. The cast includes Rodrigo Santoro, Isis Valverde, Bruno Gagliasso, Grazi Massafera, Seu Jorge, and a cameo by singer Anitta as a celebrity narrator. The trailer emphasizes themes of social fragmentation, environmental collapse, and resistance led by a character known as Mano.

The film is produced by O2 Filmes in partnership with Amazon Prime, marking a high‑profile addition to the service’s Brazilian catalog.
