Prime Video unveils trailer for Mike Flanagan’s Carrie series

Prime Video has released the official trailer for its new eight-episode series, Carrie, a modern reimagining of Stephen King’s debut novel. Directed and written by Mike Flanagan, the series updates the classic horror story by incorporating contemporary themes such as social media, viral bullying, and digital humiliation.

Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, a sheltered teenager who enters public high school following her father’s death. The narrative explores her struggle with social isolation, religious fanaticism from her mother, Margaret (played by Samantha Sloyan), and the awakening of her telekinetic powers. The series aims to expand upon the original work, providing deeper character development than previous film adaptations.

Stephen King, serving as an executive producer, has praised the adaptation, stating on Threads that the version is “brilliant” and noting that its commentary on social media is “shocking and true.” The series is scheduled to premiere globally on Prime Video on October 7, 2026.
