CAF Interclub Competitions: Mixed Results in Preliminary Rounds

The preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup saw diverse outcomes for several African clubs. In the Champions League, Cameroon’s Colombe Sportive du Dja et Lobo secured a significant 2-0 away victory against Senegal’s Teungueth FC, placing them in a strong position to reach the group stage. Conversely, Teungueth FC faces a difficult task in the return leg in Yaoundé.

In the Confederation Cup, Congolese clubs experienced contrasting fortunes. AS Maniema Union delivered a dominant 4-1 away win against Angola’s Kabuscorp, while DC Virunga suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Primeiro de Agosto. Meanwhile, Togo’s ASKO de Kara lost 3-2 to Mali’s FC Diarra in a high-scoring encounter.

In Algeria, USM Alger has advanced directly to the group stage following the withdrawal of Equatorial Guinea’s The Panthers FC, who cited financial constraints as the reason for their exit from the competition.
