Prince Albert II celebrates Italian diplomatic ties and Monaco's 10,000th citizen
Prince Albert II of Monaco has highlighted the strong historical and economic ties between Monaco and Italy following the state visit of Italian President Sergio Mattarella. The Prince noted that over 60% of Monégasque residents have Italian roots and emphasized that Italy is Monaco’s second-largest commercial partner, following France. The relationship spans various sectors, including luxury goods, fashion, finance, yachting, and architecture.
In a separate milestone, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended a ceremony at Monaco City Hall to welcome the principality’s 10,000th citizen. The honor was bestowed upon a young girl named Anna, born in June. While Monaco has a total population of approximately 38,000, Monégasque citizens represent less than a quarter of that total. The principality maintains strict citizenship requirements, which include naturalization processes that require sovereign approval and the renunciation of original nationality.
