Prince Andrew and Peter Mandelson face year‑long investigations in UK Epstein probe

British prosecutors say the investigations into Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, and former ambassador Peter Mandelson over their links to the late sex‑offender Jeffrey Epstein could take up to a year to complete. Both men were arrested separately in February after the US Justice Department released millions of pages of documents showing their past connections to Epstein. No charges have yet been filed.

Prince Andrew is suspected of passing sensitive information to Epstein while serving as the UK’s trade and investment envoy from 2001‑2011, and police are also looking into an allegation that a woman was taken to his home for sexual purposes in 2010. Mandelson is under scrutiny for alleged leaks of classified information to Epstein during his time as a senior government minister. Crown Prosecution Service Director Stephen Parker described the Mandelson case as “complex”, saying a year’s duration reflects the investigation’s intricacy and its international dimensions rather than any lack of urgency.
