Prince Andrew under lengthy police investigation for sexual assault claims

British police have confirmed that the inquiry into Prince Andrew, the former Duke of York, regarding alleged sexual assault will be "extremely thorough and will take time," senior officer Oliver Wright said. The investigation follows his arrest earlier this year on suspicion of abusing public office and centres on allegations that he engaged in sexual activity facilitated by the late American financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Investigators are reviewing a large volume of information from the public and other sources, including reports that a woman was transported to a Windsor address in 2010 for sexual purposes. The police have appealed for any additional witnesses or victims to come forward. The inquiry is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Justice, though no American documents have yet been received.

The case is unprecedented in modern British history, involving the eighth in line to the throne and raising serious questions about potential breaches of duty, confidentiality, and sexual misconduct.
