Prince David Kijanangoma buried at Karambi Royal Tombs

Prince David Kijanangoma, a member of the Tooro Babiito royal family, was laid to rest at the Karambi Royal Tombs in Fort Portal on Friday. He died on September 15, 2026, at the Uganda Cancer Institute after a battle with cancer.

His passing comes during a period of significant mourning for the Tooro Kingdom, following the death and burial of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV just days earlier. Kijanangoma was the brother of Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, the newly selected successor to the throne.

During the funeral services at St. John’s Cathedral, Kijanangoma was noted for his eventual reconciliation with King Oyo in 2017 after a period of political tension. President Yoweri Museveni, through representatives, offered condolences and noted his financial support for the prince during his medical treatment.
