Prince Diofebo Meli Lupi di Soragna dies at 85

Prince Diofebo Meli Lupi di Soragna has passed away at the age of 85. As the last holder of the title Prince of the Holy Roman Empire, he was a prominent figure in Italian nobility.

Born in Varese in 1941, Meli Lupi studied political science in Milan and served as an officer in the Alpini. Following a career in high finance in London, he returned to Italy to manage his family's agricultural business and the historic Rocca di Soragna.

Under his leadership, the 14th-century fortress became a cultural hub, hosting charitable events, galas, and international guests, including Princess Margaret in 1988. He was also a well-known television personality, frequently appearing on the Maurizio Costanzo Show, where he shared anecdotes about high-society events such as the wedding of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco.
