Ontario Rural Affairs Ministry Allocates $5.8 Million to Prince Edward County and Quinte West
Ontario’s Rural Affairs Minister Lisa Thompson announced an unconditional grant of $4.2 million to Prince Edward County and $1.6 million to Quinte West through the Ontario Municipal Partnership. The funding, part of a $600 million annual program that was increased by $100 million, is intended to give municipalities flexibility to pursue priorities that attract residents and businesses.
In addition, the Rural Ontario Development program will provide $219,000 to eight local projects ranging from tourism initiatives to accessibility improvements. Minister Thompson said the money “means that we understand that you need to have the dexterity and the flexibility to identify your priorities” and that the grants are “unconditional and may be spent however councils choose.”
