Prince film premieres at BFI London Film Festival

The film ‘Prince’, the solo feature debut of Uruguayan director and screenwriter Federico Borgia, is set to premiere at the 70th BFI London Film Festival. The film is a Uruguayan-Argentine co-production set in the luxury seaside setting of Punta del Este.

The story follows Jaime, a butler played by Roberto Suárez, who serves an affluent woman named Isabel. Following Isabel’s unexpected death, her will stipulates that her luxury estate is left to her prize-winning Afghan hound, Prince, with Jaime appointed as the dog's guardian. This arrangement triggers a ruthless custody battle among Isabel’s human relatives, who seek to oust the dog to claim the property.

Described as a darkly comedic and stylized exploration of wealth, greed, and class divides, the film features Maitina De Marco and Esteban Bigliardi. Critics note the film’s heavy reliance on visual storytelling and its provocative themes regarding grief and domestic life.
