Prince George Turns 13, Shares Birthday Portrait, Heads to Eton
Prince George celebrated his 13th birthday on 22 July, marking his entry into the teenage years. Prince and Princess of Wales posted a new portrait taken by longtime family photographer Matt Porteous at Kensington Palace shortly after the Trooping the Colour ceremony; the caption read “Happy 13th Birthday, George!”. The image shows the future king smiling in a dark suit with his hands in his pockets. In the weeks ahead the prince will begin secondary education at Eton College, joining about 260 other boys on 8 September. He previously attended the Lambrook preparatory school, where he requested a trial week of boarding to familiarize himself with communal life. The move follows the tradition of his father, Prince William, and uncle, Prince Harry, who both attended Eton, and will place him about a ten‑minute drive from the family home at Windsor.
