Prince George school zone speeding leads to truck impoundment

An Edmonton-based semi-truck driver has had his vehicle impounded after being caught traveling 81 km/h in a 30 km/h school zone in Prince George, British Columbia. The incident occurred on September 9 near Pine View Elementary School during a school-zone enforcement operation conducted by the BC Highway Patrol and RCMP.

Upon stopping the 34-year-old driver, authorities discovered multiple violations, including excessive speeding, lack of insurance, and out-of-province registration. Additionally, Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) identified mechanical defects, specifically ineffective brakes, which resulted in both the tractor and the trailer being taken off the road.

The driver faces several fines and significant expenses. Total costs for towing, impoundment, inspections, repairs, and tickets are estimated to exceed $3,000. The enforcement operation also resulted in various other citations for speeding, tinted windows, and illegible license plates in the area.
