Prince George begins at Eton College, assigned his own room

Prince George, the 13‑year‑old son of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, will start at Eton College in September 2026, following the same path taken by his father. Eton’s policy gives each pupil a private study‑bedroom, so George will not share a room – a standard rule for all new boarders, not a royal privilege.

He is moving from Lambrook School, where he was a day pupil, to full boarding. He will travel home on weekends and holidays to the family residence, Forest Lodge, located only a short drive from the school. New pupils at Eton also face traditional initiation tasks, such as the “colours test” that requires memorising the locations and colours of the college’s 25 boarding houses.

Reports from his former school note that George has become popular with female classmates, with a particular friend named Juliette mentioned. A royal biographer also highlighted the support George receives from his godmother Zara Tindall and her husband, former rugby player Mike Tindall, as he prepares for his future role.
